AI agents are reshaping industries, bringing automation and intelligence to everything from finance to logistics. But when it comes to operating in the decentralized world of blockchain, they’ve faced some major challenges—until now. With Intento, AI agents get the tools they need to orchestrate workflows across blockchains, making complex tasks seamless, scalable, and secure on-chain.
AI agents are built to act autonomously, making decisions and executing tasks based on predefined intents. However, blockchain systems haven’t made this easy. Running user intents via AI on-chain would currently involve the following challenges and risks:
Custom smart contracts as intermediaries
Building custom smart contracts for every specific use case is a complex and resource-intensive process. It takes specialized technical skills and a lot of time to develop. Ensuring reliability also requires significant investment in thorough testing and auditing. Even minor errors can lead to vulnerabilities, making the entire process both expensive and risky. Custom smart contracts may serve as intermediaries, but their tailored design turns their very customization into a potential liability.
Challenges to manage and deploy smart contracts on different chains
Transferring data and executing actions across blockchains is a complicated and fragmented process. Operating on multiple chains requires deploying and managing custom smart contracts on each chain individually or choosing one chain to deploy a contract and relying on bridges for communication. Both options have their challenges: managing contracts on multiple chains or relying on bridges increases the risk of exploits and creates dependency on centralized task schedulers, which come with approval risks. On top of that, implementing features such as General Message Passing (GMP) and state querying across chains within smart contracts is highly complex from a technical standpoint.
Gas-Intensive Processes
Using smart contracts and bot networks for task automation often results in significant gas usage. In bot networks, multiple bots compete to execute tasks, leading to network congestion and inflated gas costs as they race to claim rewards. This "first-come-first-served" model introduces inefficiencies and centralization risks, as less profitable agents are driven out. This lack of flexibility and efficiency stops AI agents from reaching their full potential in decentralized systems. The usage of custom code and smart contracts, limited interoperability as shown in the drawing above will be fully eliminated by Intento.
With Intento, these barriers are a thing of the past. Intento gives AI agents everything they need to interact with blockchain systems efficiently and autonomously. The result? AI agents can now go beyond basic tasks to orchestrate entire workflows with AI.
Here’s how Intento stands out:
Most blockchain tools focus on simple interactions—like a single transaction or data query. Intento lets AI agents do much more by enabling orchestration: managing multiple steps, coordinating actions, and making decisions in real-time across chains.
In Intento’s code, we’ve implemented diverse measures that elevate authentication and authorization to an uncompromising standard. For self-hosted ICAs, we rely on an ownership-based model where only the action owner can send Interchain messages, reinforcing direct accountability. For hosted ICAs, we restrict transactions to the MsgExec message type and verify the message signer. This approach ensures that actions align strictly with predefined permissions. For local messages, authentication explicitly validates that the signer matches the action owner. By layering these targeted measures, we ensure not just compliance but a proactive approach to securing interactions and making these self-custodial actions secure.
Intento empowers AI agents to take an active role in blockchain ecosystems by enabling them to:
Intento isn’t just solving today’s blockchain challenges—it’s building the infrastructure for a more automated, interconnected future. With Intento, AI agents can finally operate without limits, orchestrating workflows that are smarter, faster, and more secure.
